Dear FbN: What's your regimen?

A transitioning curly was interested in the regimens of the FbN contributors. Here goes:

Sunday afternoon:
Monday morning:
  • oil scalp with Jojoba Oil
  • moisturize each plait with Oyin burnt sugar pomade
  • unravel and fluff each plait
Wednesday night:
  • grab a small section of hair and plait
  • continue until whole head is plaited randomly
  • spray a plait with Infusium 23/glycerine/water mix and sometimes DevaCurl set it free, or HE totally twisted mousse.
  • curl the end of the plait with a rod
  • continue until all plaits are damp and have rods on the ends
Thursday morning:

  • oil scalp with Jojoba oil
  • moisturize each plait with Oyin burnt sugar pomade
  • unravel and fluff each plait
I may be purchasing a set of curlformers this weekend. If so, I will replace the Sunday braid out with a set of curls.

Readers, we are also interested in your regimen. Please share.

  1. My regimen

I wash with Come Clean shampoo by Kinky curly once and then I use Organix shea butter conditioner twice. I deep condition with roots of nature deep conditioner and walk around with that in for about 30 minutes. After I'm done washing, I use Knot Today leave in conditioner by Kinky curly and comb that through with a wide tooth comb. To style, I start at the back of my head and part with my fingers horizontally and clip the rest up. I do two strand twists with fairly small sections because they lasts longer. Before I twist a section, i put a small amount of cantu shea butter pomade on my fingers and comb it through. I cover the twists with a satin bonnet and let them air dry overnight. In the morning, I unravel the twist with my fingers and then seperate each section again to create a fuller look. Each night I cover with my bonnet and in the morning fluff it out. It lasts for about a week. Towards the end of the week, I usually have to get creative and style it with side combs or headbands.
